More About Me

With the goal of laying out my entire investing strategy and the progress of my business in this blog, I guess I shouldn’t be too shy about giving some more background about who am I.

I’m originally from the East Coast, but have resided in Silicon Valley (California) for the past seven years. I earned my degree in Electrical Engineering back in the mid-90’s, and have spent the past 14 years working for several prominent technology companies managing product development and technology innovation. I’ve worked for, and held management positions at, such companies as DirecTV, Microsoft, and eBay, and after nearly 15 years in the corporate world, I’ve decided it’s time for something new.

I’ve been interested in real estate for several years, but the fact that I live in one of the most expensive parts of the country during the biggest real estate boom in history, I’ve been wary of jumping into RE investing until now. With the opportunity to move to a part of the country with more reasonably priced real estate, and with the overall real estate market cooling considerably over the past year, I think now is a great time to pursue my professional investing goals.

My fiancee has also spent much of the past 15 years in the corporate world, and she too is ready for a change. While I’ll be focused on starting a real estate investment company, she’ll be taking some well-earned time off, and then will likely be starting up a consulting firm specializing in corporate communications, events, and rewards (her field of expertise). While we’re both innovative and accustomed to fast-paced environments, I think I speak for both of us when I say that simultaneously bootstrapping two entirely different companies should be an interesting undertaking.

Luckily, she and I have very complementary personalities — I’m tremendously analytical and numbers-oriented, while she’s amazingly creative and has great people skills. And I can’t imagine anything more fun than working with her full-time on our two individual endeavors. Perhaps I can even convince her to start a blog to document the building of her business.

As I write this, we are in the process of packing and moving from our home in San Jose, CA to our new home in Atlanta, GA, where we will settle down and begin building our new companies from the ground up.

Okay, back to packing…the movers will be here in two weeks…

What made you choose Atlanta , GA ?

This has the potential to be the most useful blog or piece of RE info on the net. As compared to every other success story “I was bankrupt, eating hotdogs, babies slept in potato sacks but now I drive a diablo, done”

Larry (the big spider hanging out at one of my houses) will be getting an eviction notice soon enough!

Great blog and thanks for sharing. Like you after 25 years of teaching college I had done some real estate deals on the side in Texas but decided I had enough and moved to Stone Mountain and am reorganizing my LLC here in Georgia. Best wishes and looking forward to meeting you.
