Wow. That is a strange combination. From the first photo, the house looks pretty well taken cared of, but then the inside… was this from some other investor who didn’t feel like finishing the job?
The pictures do not reveal any mold or mildew problems. Why was this home stripped to the studs? It dosen’t look too old.

Hi Sophia,
This house was under 6′ of water back in September 2009 when Atlanta had some of it’s worst flooding in history. The county came in and gutted the house after the flood, and it’s been sitting like this for nearly 3 years while going through the foreclosure process. The exterior is vinyl siding, so it stood up just fine in the water…the inside wasn’t so lucky.

The county came in and stripped it down shortly after the flooding, and with nothing very porous remaining in the property, there was no excess moisture for mold to grow. Are we getting a mold test to ensure that the levels are low, but I don’t expect any major issues.
Is that sheathed with OSB behind the vinyl siding? If so, can it withstand contact with water that long without needing replacement?
Hey Mark,
I believe it’s plywood behind the vinyl, so not as much of an issue (the water only lasted a few hours before it receded, I believe…
