It took about three weeks, but we received our first offer and are now under contract on The Rot House…
The offer was a very good one (just under full list price) and the buyer is a local real estate agent, so she’s been very easy to deal with and we know she’s serious about buying. In fact, everything was going great until the inspection, when I received a call from the buyer/agent telling me that the gas was off, and the inspector couldn’t complete the inspection. I was completely confused, as the gas had been on the day before (and every day for the previous two months since we bought the property).
After some investigation, it turns out that I had made a BIG mistake — apparently, when I purchased the house, I forgot to move the gas service into my name and the gas company finally got around to turning the gas off (from the previous owner) the day before the inspection!
Unfortunately, the gas company can’t get out to the property to turn the gas back on until Wednesday of this week — so the rest of the inspection will have to wait until then. Hopefully, we won’t have any below-freezing temperatures before then so we won’t have to worry about the pipes freezing.
Anyway, we’re scheduled for closing in mid-January, so we still have several weeks to deal with the rest of the inspections, appraisals, etc. I’ll write more once we get a little further into the process…
Proof!
Proof that you are human like the rest of us. I was wondering….

Proof for me was when I was $25,000 over budget on The WI-1 House… 🙂
